The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee to present the National Awards to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Banks at a function at Vigyan Bhavan tomorrow (April 3, 2013).
The National Awards were instituted by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 1983 to felicitate the outstanding performers in the MSME sector in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Research and Development, Product Quality and innovation. The awards are also given to outstanding achievers in Khadi, Village Industries and Coir sector as well as to Banks in recognition of their credit support to the Small and Micro Enterprises.
This year’s total numbers of National Awardees are 108, including 39 from MSME Sector, 45 from Khadi & Village Industries and 18 from Coir Industries in different categories and 6 Banks. The First, Second and Third National Awards carry a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/-, Rs. 75,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- respectively, a certificate and a trophy. One Special Award will be given to one outstanding woman entrepreneur, one outstanding entrepreneur from SC/ST community and one outstanding entrepreneur from North Eastern Region.
