The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the Annual Innovation Exhibition tomorrow (March 7, 2014) at the Sports Ground of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Since 2010, the National Innovation Foundation-India has been organizing an Innovation Exhibition in Rashtrapati Bhavan every year. This exhibition conveys the President’s commitment to support the cause of inclusive innovation. It also provides an opportunity to students, investors, entrepreneurs, designers, etc to join the movement and help in taking green grassroots innovations to the society.
This year’s exhibition will showcase 41 innovative technologies including seven from students. In addition, community knowledge based herbal products for human, veterinary and plant health will also be exhibited in a "Mind to Market” Pavilion.
There will be on-the-spot ‘idea’ contests for school students every day and prizes will be announced for outstanding ideas.
The National Innovation Foundation-India (NIF) was setup by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India as India’s national initiative to support grassroots technological innovations and outstanding traditional knowledge. Its primary aim is to recognize, respect and reward grassroots technological innovators and traditional knowledge experts. It endeavors to build a National Register of green grassroots technological innovations and traditional knowledge practices.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 7 to 13, 2014. Entry for the exhibition is through Gate No. 35, near North Avenue between 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. Visitors to the Mughal Gardens can also visit the exhibition.
