Participants of the 25th Know India Programme for Diaspora Youth called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (September 18, 2013). The group comprised of 27 young men and women from 8 countries.
Speaking on the occasion, the President appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India to organize the programme. He said that it is necessary for us to know about our roots and the place from where we originated. He said that the programme would be an enriching experience for the young men and women. He stated that India is the largest functional democracy of the world with its own inherent strength which can manifest itself whenever the situation demands.
The Know India Programme for Diaspora Youth is organized by Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India for youth of Indian origin from different countries to make them familiar with the phenomenal transformation taking place in the country and its transition from a destination for culture, heritage and art to an emerging powerhouse of the world.
